You may apply to either the Sunnybrook Ambulatory Care Residency Program or General Residency Program, but not both.
Est. stipend: Approximately- $30,000 per annum

Program highlights: The Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency Program at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) is a one year experiential program designed for the individual seeking to further develop skills necessary to assess, design, implement and monitor evidence-based individualized medication therapy in a variety of collaborative outpatient practice settings. In addition, the resident will develop and demonstrate fundamental teaching, research and leadership skills.

Required Rotations:  

  • General Hospital Orientation: 1 week
  • Distribution: 1 week
  • Administration: 1 week
  • Teaching & Learning: 2 weeks
  • Clinical Orientation: 1 week
  • Drug Information: 2 weeks
  • Research Project: 10 weeks

Elective Rotations:

  • Clinical Rotations (elective rotations of 5 weeks duration each or longitudinal)
  • Family Health Teams (Sunnybrook and various locations throughout the GTA)
  • Oncology (Outpatient Chemotherapy Suites @ Sunnybrook's Odette Cancer Centre)
  • Nephrology (Pre-dialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis and Hemodialysis Clinics @ Sunnybrook)
  • Thromboembolism (Anticoagulation Clinic & Inpatient TE Service @ Sunnybrook)
  • Adult Drug Safety Clinic (@ Sunnybrook)
  • Pain Management Clinic (@ Sunnybrook)
  • Rheumatology (Rheumatology, Osteoporosis & Osteoarthritis Clinics)
  • Cardiology (Heart Failure Clinic, Atrial Fib Clinic)
  • Emergency Department (@ Sunnybrook)
  • Falls Prevention Clinic (@ St John’s Rehabilitation Hospital)
  • Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (@ Sunnybrook)

Minimum required credentials: Eligible for licensure in Ontario and undergraduate training in pharmaceutical care.
