Est. stipend: $35,000 per annum

  • Designed to develop self-directed practitioners with advanced skills in practice of pharmaceutical care. The program offers a wide variety of clinical rotations across all four UHN sites with nationally recognized preceptors. The residency rotation schedule is tailored to account for the candidate’s prior learning and personal objectives. All residents are paired with an experienced mentor to help navigate the residency year. Residents will have the opportunity to participating in teaching activities on site and at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy. Residency projects are a high priority for UHN pharmacy and project team members are experienced researchers. Many residency projects are published in international peer reviewed journals. The oncology-focused program offers the resident to develop the skills to be an independent oncology pharmacy practitioner and as such most of the rotations are based at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

Minimum required credentials: BScPhm/PharmD

The resident will complete rotations in:
- Medication Use Systems
- General Internal Medicine
- Drug Information
- Critical Care Medicine (for general residents)
- Leadership
- Clinical Practice (independent management of a clinical team)
- Research project (longitudinally)
- Teaching/Preceptorship (longitudinally)

 

Elective Rotations: Residents have a choice of several elective rotations which are 4 weeks in duration each:
 

- Allogenic bone marrow transplant
- Ambulatory chronic pain and opioid stewardship clinic
- Ambulatory HIV/immunodeficiency clinic
- Ambulatory nephrology clinics (peritoneal dialysis and chronic kidney disease clinic)
- Antibiotic stewardship
- Cardiology
- Cardiovascular intensive care unit
- Complex continuing care
- Critical care (at Sinai Health System, oncology-focused resident only) 
- Emergency medicine
- Geriatric rehabilitation  
- Hemodialysis
- Lymphoma/Myeloma/Autologous stem cell transplant
