Program highlights:

The SHA Provincial Pharmacy Residency Program is a multi-site, competency-based program that supports residents in developing the knowledge, skills, processes, and professional values required to excel as practitioners. Residents will have a home base in either Regina or Saskatoon and will also have opportunities to complete rotations across the province in a variety of inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory care settings.* The 12-month program includes required, selective, and elective rotations designed to provide a broad and flexible learning experience.

The competency-based program emphasizes experiential education through direct engagement in clinical practice. Practitioner role models serve as the primary educators, fostering the development of critical thinking, independence, and professional growth. The program is designed to cultivate skilled, reflective practitioners equipped to lead and advance pharmacy practice.

Research and project management skills are developed through completion of a healthcare-system pharmacy-based research project supported by a Provincial Residency Research Committee and preceptors.

*Resident is responsible for expenses related to accommodation and travel.

Required Credentials: Graduate of an accredited entry-to-practice pharmacy degree program.

Minimum Required Credentials: On the first day of residency, residents must hold a Practicing Pharmacist or a Conditional License from the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals.

Other Eligibility Requirements: Residents are expected to complete all federal and provincial licensing requirements as soon as possible (e.g., Certificate of Qualification from the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada, SCPP jurisprudence examination).
