CSHP Saskatchewan Branch

Each year, a new CSHP-SK branch junior student representative is elected at the AGM (in October/November). Applications are accepted by the current student representatives until about one week prior to the AGM.

The mentorship program is an opportunity for students to gain a mentor and a better understanding of a career as a hospital pharmacist. Students are matched up with a practicing hospital pharmacist in Saskatchewan. Students and mentors are able to sign up in early-mid September and match results are released before the end of September each year.

The annual student symposium is an event hosted by CSHP-SK branch to provide students with an opportunity to come and learn more about hospital pharmacy practice within Saskatchewan. Student have the opportunity to ask questions to guest speakers, residency coordinators and residents. This event typically takes place in the month of March.

CSHP partners with PAS to host a social event for PharmD and Pharmacy Technician students in the province. Students have the opportunity to start forming relationships with future colleagues. This event typically takes place in September after welcome week.

CSHP partners with CAPSI to host the national EBM competition. Students are able to showcase their evidence-based medicine practices and skills and compete against student across the country. The date of the event varies as it is planned by CSHP national to pick a date that works for all schools across the country. Last year the event took place at the end of October.

The future pharmacy professional award is an annual CSHP award which allows one student from the western Canadian pharmacy schools to attend the Banff Conference with registration fees covered. The award applications are typically due in early January. More information about student awards can be found here.
