Type: General

Focus: The Island Health Pharmacy Residency Program is designed to provide the resident with a broad experience in hospital pharmacy practice and to promote the development of acumen and confidence in the provision of pharmaceutical care. The emphasis of the program is to prepare residents for independent clinical practice in the institutional setting.

Program Highlights:

The Island Health Pharmacy Practice Residency develops future clinicians and leaders through a high quality, challenging, experiential training program delivered by skilled clinician preceptors in an inter-professional, patient-centered environment. They focus on clinical practice, but also integrate skill development in leadership, project management, and research through a competency-based approach to learning.

Residents will be assigned to one of the three PODS based at either Royal Jubilee Hospital (Victoria), the Victoria General Hospital (Victoria), or the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (Nanaimo). Residency rotations may be scheduled at sites across the Health Authority in Campbell River, Comox/Courtenay, Nanaimo, Duncan, and Victoria. Resident expenses for accommodation costs incurred by rotations outside of the resident's primary geographic assignment is covered by the Health Authority.
