Integrating Environmental Sustainability into Pharmacy Practice Grant (NEW)

Description
- The $5000 grant will help support and facilitate a pharmacist or pharmacy technician initiated environmental sustainability program or initiative within a healthcare systems organization. The project must focus on reducing pharmaceutical wastage, reducing the pharmaceutical impact on the environment and/or increasing climate resiliency of the health system and of patients.
Objective
- To facilitate environmental sustainability integration and stewardship in healthcare systems in Canada.
Current Criteria for all grants
- Applicant must be a CSHP Member, Member-in-Training, or Student Supporter for at least 12 months at the time of the grant application.
- If applying on behalf of a group, principal investigator/applicant must be a CSHP member
- Grant applicants or a specific project can only receive this grant once.
- This project is based and will be conducted primarily in an organized healthcare system in Canada.
- This project does not duplicate funding already held for a grant from the CSHP Foundation and has not received a grant from the CSHP Foundation in the past two years.
- Application does not duplicate funding already held for this project or a portion of the project. If an additional funding and decision date for that funding source is to be declared.
- The timeline for the completion of the project shall not exceed 18 months (grant funds provided to successful submission(s) early May 2025 and project start date should be shortly thereafter).
- Candidate selection will include EDI-related considerations.
- The successful recipient of the grant competition will be required to share the results of their project at a national CSHP webinar to support knowledge dissemination.
Required Elements of Grant Submission
A written proposal (no more than 2 pages, Arial, 10 font) to include:
- A brief overview of the sustainable environment initiative or program including:
- Background and current impact on the environment
- Rationale and justification for the program, including relevance to the environment and/or patient care.
- Goals and objectives of the program, including anticipated benefits/impact on the environment.
- Measurable outcomes and deliverables, including impact on the environment, ability to sustain program after funding source has exhausted.
- A detailed timeline for the initiative/program.
- A detailed budget with description of costs.
- Funding can be used to fund personnel (i.e. students, analysts), supplies and equipment.
- Curriculum vitae of the principal applicant.
- A letter of support from the Director of the Hospital Pharmacy that the proposed change(s) will be implemented.
