Journal Club
The purpose of the CSHP OB Journal Club is to foster evidence-based, timely and contextualized learning that has immediate or near-future implications on front-line practice. Journal Club is structured as a 30-60 minute facilitated discussion occuring once per month.
Papers are disseminated by email 2-3 weeks in advance with accompanying backgrounder articles to enhance understanding of the topic where appropriate. Participation is open to all CSHP members including pharmacy leaders, pharmacists, residents/interns and students practicing in all collaborative settings including hospitals and ambulatory care. The overall atmosphere is conversational as we discuss how to approach a particular clinical problem, learn clinical pearls from each other, and share common wins and challenges in our own practices.
Papers welcomed for journal club include but are not limited to: randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, narrative reviews, meta-analyses, cohort/case control studies, clinical guidelines, teachable moments, commentaries on clinical practice, validation studies, ISMP Canada Safety Bulletins, CJHP point/counterpoint articles and Health Canada's Health Product InfoWatch publications. CSHP members are always encouraged to suggest topics and/or articles for future journal club sessions.
